The Cat Cow exercise is often used to begin gentle movement in the lumbar spine. It is frequently one of the first exercises that I give for those with back pain depending on spine tolerance.
When used as a controlled articular rotation exercise it aids in keeping the discs, joints, muscles and ligaments around the lumbar spine (and the thoracic spine, more mobility and healthy.
Experiencing pain is not what we are looking for here .If you experience pain then you should seek out a professional to help assess you. Use this exercise on a daily basis.
